SpongeBob SquarePants has been a staple in our house for as long as I can remember. I was in high school when it first came out and I was instantly smitten. Say what you will, this cartoon is a little daring and pushes boundaries whenever possible. The fact that kids, teens and adults alike can enjoy it is what makes it so timeless.
Don't worry, SpongeBob isn't going anywhere! He not only has a new movie,The Movie SpongeBob: Sponge Runaway, also has a new show starting,Kamp Koral: SpongeBob Minorsđ§đ· This show perfectly matches the movie, which you will understand after watching it.
The Movie SpongeBob: Sponge Runaway
In this movie, Gary has fallen asleep and SpongeBob and Patrick go looking for him. This is all a ploy by Plankton to get them out of Bikini Bottom, and the rest of the movie follows their crazy adventures on their way to rescue Gary.
Here in the United States, the newest Sponge On The Run has yet to be released. I know our overseas friends have been able to see it for a while, so I was really excited to finally get a chance to see it. My whole family snuggled up for a family movie night as we are all SpongeBob fans.
SpongeBob Movie Review: Sponge Runaway
The first thing I should mention is how much we all love the look of this movie. We were all instantly drawn to the animation style and bright colors. While we have our favorite characters returning, there are some new ones too: standouts for me are Otto voiced by Awkwafina and Poseidon voiced by Matt Berry.
Overall, I have to admit this is my least favorite SpongeBob movie. The plot is all over the place and it just doesn't make sense half the time. The story branches off in so many directions along the way that it makes it hard for the audience to really understand what's going on.
It made us laugh though, more than once, and the cameos were epic. Who doesn't love Snoop Dogg, Keanu Reeves and Danny Trejo? That whole scene with them and the zombie pirates is by far the best part of the movie, as bizarre as it is.
As for the rest of the film, it offers typical SpongeBob humor and goofy antics. Some of them work, some don't. I will say this: my 8 and 9 year old daughters really enjoyed the movie and will watch it again and again. This SpongeBob movie feels a lot more kid-oriented than the others, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I recently attended a press event about these new SpongeBob adventures, where I learned a lot about the voice cast! This interview made me love this sea sponge even more than I could have imagined.
- From the beginning, the cast recorded together in a booth so they could play with each other. Of course, they can't wait for the days when they can do it again.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob Minors
My first thought about this show is: LIES! Because? Well, as SpongeBob fans should know, he met Sandy in the very first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, and it wasn't because they went camping together. Honestly, it took me a long time to get over this continuity error and I finally had to get it out of my head to accept this show for what it is.
Kamp Koral: Review of SpongeBob Year Minors
After watching the first two episodes of Kamp Koral, I have to admit it's a good time. The general feel is for a younger audience than the original SpongeBob SquarePants commercial, but that's okay. I totally understand where they're going with this one. The program seems to work for the preschool to elementary school age group, and my 8 and 9 year olds really liked it.
As for my husband and I, we thought everything was fine. There were a few moments that made us chuckle, but the overall vibe is more kid-friendly, showing that they've retained just the right appeal for the audience.
I like and dislike the use of some popular characters. Why Mr. Krabs and his daughter are there? The age range is not good at all. Kamp Koral needs to be seen as a fun kids' show that isn't totally tied into the SpongeBob franchise, otherwise you'll go crazy pointing out continuity errors.
